Chiropractic Attitude (part 3): 5 Factors of Everyday Health

In the first article, we wrote about how the body uses innate intelligence or spirit to heal itself.  In article two, we subdivided NERVES to show how pain is associated when a nerve becomes pinched.  Part 3 will bring the theory of parts 1 and 2 to PRACTICE: 5 factors of everyday health.

1. Diet
What we put in our body is a direct correlation to body's ability to function normally.  As an infant through adolescence, nutrition is vital to human development and growth.  For example, in Type 2 Diabetes a child's body mutates to leave abnormal levels of sugar in the bloodstream through an unhealthy diet.  The proper foods in our diet keep our energy levels optimum throughout the day and fight off environmental factors that degrade our body.

2. Exercise
Lack of muscle strength makes our posture compensate to maintain balance.  If left untreated, this usually progresses to pain and arthritis long-term.  When we exercise, muscles grow.  Our body works efficiently when there is muscle strength throughout the body maintaining balance.  Exercise is also a great way to increase oxygen through blood flow to all parts of the body.  A great energy boost!

3. Sleep
Sleep is only attained when the body is able to relax both physically and mentally.  The amount of sleep you need?  My rule of thumb: when I wake up clear headed and physically energized, that's a good night!  When patients experience chronic pain, it can correlate with being deprived of sleep.  As their pain subsides, energy levels increase and a recharged feeling returns.  Their day is filled with energy.

4. PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)
Your attitude directly affects your health.  Almost all patients will only get healthier in our office when their attitude is "I want to get better!"  I can't physically force patients to make their office visits.  Each patient must personally make a decision to follow through with their chiropractic care for THEIR health.  As their initial symptom (usually pain) subsides, their motivation increases to see their whole life improve.
Once normal, factors 1 through 4 can be controlled and maintained by YOU.  Factor 5 is different:

5. HNS (Health Nervous System)
This is what chiropractors do!  Through x-rays and spinal examinations, chiropractors check and evaluate a patient when there are feeling unhealthy AND to maintain their quality of health.  Getting Chiropractic care when NOT IN PAIN keeps the nerves free to keep people's attitude, sleep, exercise, and diet awesome.  How for example?  If the nerves that control digestion are not functioning normally, how can one absorb the nutrients in the food we eat, control their weight, and keep their energy levels up throughout the day?  Get it?

Most of us are born with a healthy body.  Different stresses throughout life affect these 5 factors.  Fix the factor and maintain your health.  Keep it simple.

  1. Thank you for the reiterating your new patient class. I attended your Tuesday new patient class over a month ago. Since I have been out of pain, I have enjoyed the "free" workout advice, etc. I can get during my office visits. My pain is gone and, more importantly, I can live a healthier lifestyle to keep the pain absent by treating my spine better.

    Thank you
